Podcast — Six Feet From Normal: Episode 3
As the nation enters its third month of social distancing measures, we look at the mental health consequences of self isolation. Quarantine is great for preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus, but it’s also great at creating a new symptom: loneliness.
We talk with Dr. Terry Freiberg, an author and sociologist with three books on the phenomenon of loneliness. We also hear from the co-director of the non-profit We Are Family, Tulin Ozdeger, about how they are continuing to serve the chronically lonely elderly population during the pandemic.
Finally, Sarah Alexander, whose disability leaves her mostly housebound, takes us through how solitude has impacted her own life.
