Situations Among Refugees in Paris are Drastically Different

The French government is having difficulty managing the refugee crisis in Paris. Along with the rest of the European Union, refugees are flooding into Paris faster than the government can effectively deal with the situation. Many refugees end up living in makeshift tents under bridges, next to canals and on the streets. Citizen organizations are doing what they can to help those who are struggling by providing them with blankets, plastic to protect them from the rain, and when there’s a large enough supply, shoes.

Other refugees may end up in different situations depending on visa approval and other circumstances. Pierre Claver, a school for refugees in Paris, helps students learn French and adapt to French culture.

However, newly proposed laws may soon threaten the status of refugees across Europe.
