Military Reporters & Editors Association: CJCS, USCG Commandant, Deputy Defense Secretary to Address 2018 Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sep. 10, 2018–The deputy secretary of defense, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard are among the top brass who will address the annual conference of the Military Reporters & Editors association this fall.

Patrick M. Shanahan, the Pentagon’s deputy secretary, and Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will address the conference.
The one-day event will also feature Adm. Karl L. Schultz, the U.S. Coast Guard commandant, and other senior leaders of the U.S. military.
Attendees will exchange views with a panel of the Defense Department’s most senior public affairs officers. And MRE will honor the recipients of its annual awards for excellence in defense journalism.
“We are looking forward to a newsworthy and memorable conference, and we’re grateful that so many senior officials are willing to speak to us and take questions,” said MRE President John M. Donnelly, a senior writer at CQ Roll Call.
The all-day gathering is slated for Oct. 26 at Navy League headquarters in Arlington, Va.
