Refugees coming from the Middle East and North Africa have called Paris home, living in exposed conditions with temperatures hitting well below zero during the winter months. Heather Young helps run Paris Refugee Ground Support from her transit van, distributing aid to homeless refugees living on the streets of the city. While she is one person among the many associations and individuals that have been active for years on the ground, Young considers herself useful enough to keep doing what she does.
“It’s not about me and what I want to do. It’s where you are the best tool. And right now, I’m a bloody good tool,” she says.
