Predicting the Unpredictable: EUCOM navigates an uncertain time

If the late French President Charles de Gaulle hadn’t decided enough was enough in the late 1960s and told the United States military he wanted them off French soil, it’s possible the graduate students of Medill News Service wouldn’t have found themselves in Stuttgart, Germany, Monday, Feb. 12, visiting the United States European Command. But that is where we were, learning not only about EUCOM’s birth, but about the history of its current Stuttgart headquarters at Patch Barracks.
