Josh Meyer talks about the NYPD counterterrorism operation

Marco Werman of PRI’s The World interviewed Josh Meyer about the attempted bombing in Times Square, the FBI and the New York Police Department’s counterterrorism operations.

Meyer says NYPD’s counterterrorism operation is one of the “most elaborate and extensive counterterrorism programs in the United States.” It has about 1,000 officers ready to mobilize at any time, at “a moment’s notice,” as the Times Square event demonstrated. When asked to put NYPD’s counterterrorism operation into a global context, and its relationships with international organizations, Meyer says it is virtually unique.
